Accessibility of our Tours
We understand the challenges.
For people with accessibility needs, travel can sometimes be difficult. Lisbon and Portugal can be particularly challenging, with (for example) its famous hills and cobbled streets.
We are committed to making our tours as accessible as possible, and have extensive experience in doing so, both personal and professional.
By default, most of our walking tours involve hills and/or stairs, and sometimes walking for upwards of twenty minutes at a stretch. But we are always more than happy to make alterations to accommodate your needs and abilities. This might include hiring a taxi or a tuk-tuk, or something as simple as incorporating more-frequent rests.
Not all of the sites we visit are fully accessible for mobility (for example, some Cathedrals are only accessible by a set of stairs). If you let us know your needs, we’ll do our best to craft an itinerary that works best for you.
We are also in the process of acquiring technology that can allow us to be better heard by people who use hearing aids. If you have any concerns about accessibility, or want a fully accessible tour designed from the ground up, get in touch. We will schedule a meeting with you to discuss your needs and how we can meet them.
What this means.
On Our Walking Tours:
- We will schedule a meeting with you to discuss your needs and what options might be available.
- We know which sites are fully accessible and which are not, and which can be made more accessible.
- We can recruit other modes of transportation to make our tours more accessible.
- We will liaise with sites to see if there are programs available for people with low-vision or blindness.
Accessibility for our Planning and Custom Services:
- We will liaise with your accommodation to ensure it meets your accessibility needs.
- We can suggest which activities or city routes might work best for you.
- We can arrange for suitable modes of transportation.
Cost.
- Any additional external costs (for example, tickets for special programs, or hiring a different mode of transportation) will be added to the cost of the tour.
- Working to accommodate your needs incurs no extra costs from us.
