Shopping Tour of Chiado

So this isn’t your average tchotchke or souvenir shopping trip. The neighborhood of Chiado is full of interesting, historic shops that sell antique manuscripts, 17th century tiles, handmade capes from Alentejo, Portuguese filigree jewelry, beautiful leather gloves, luxury soaps, and much more! Many of these shops are part of the “Lojas com historia” (stores with history) program, which encourages downtown stores to continue selling traditional Portuguese goods, and to decorate their shops in the way they were in the early 20th century. Plus, at the center of it all, is the oldest continually-running bookstore in the world.
So come along and get some unique things that will help you commemorate your trip to this lovely country.
